RebelHoney's blog: "Rebels Thoughts"

created on 03/23/2007  |  http://fubar.com/rebels-thoughts/b67421
Grandfather, Great Spirit, once more behold me on earth and lean to hear my feeble voice. You lived first, and you are older than all need, older than all prayer. All things belong to you -- the two-legged, the four-legged, the wings of the air, and all green things that live. You have set the powers of the four quarters of the earth to cross each other. You have made me cross the good road and road of difficulties, and where they cross, the place is holy. Day in, day out, forevermore, you are the life of things. Black Elk (1863-1950)

O Great Spirit, Hear Us

O Great Spirit, whose voice we hear in the winds and whose breath gives life to all the world, hear us. We are small and weak. We come to you to find strength and wisdom. Let us walk in beauty and make our eyes ever behold the sunset. Make our hands respect the things you have made and our ears sharp to hear your voice. Make us wise so that we may understand the things you have taught our relatives. Let us learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock. We seek strength, not to be greater than our brothers and sisters, but to fight our greatest enemy-ourselves. Make us always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes. So when life fades, as the fading sunset our spirit may come to you without shame.
O Great Spirit, whose Voice I hear in the Winds, Hear me -- for I am small and weak: I need Your Strength and Wisdom. I seek Strength, O Great One, not to be superior to my Brothers -- But to conquer my greatest enemy: Myself. I seek Wisdom: the Lessons You have hidden In every Leaf and Rock so that I may learn And carry these messages of Life and Hope to my People. May my hands respect the many beautiful things You have made; May my ears be sharp - to hear Your voice. May I always walk in Your beauty; And let my eyes behold the red and purple Sunset So that when Life fades with the setting Sun, My Spirit will come to You without shame.

Woman's Prayer

Great Spirit, I am Mother. I was made by You so that the image of Your love Could be brought into existence. May I always carry with me The sacredness of this honour. Creator, I am Daughter. I am the learner of the Traditions. May I carry them forward So that the Elders and Ancestors Will be remembered for all time. Maker-Of-All-Things, I am Sister. Through me, may my brothers be shown The manner in which I am to be respected. May I join with my sisters in strength and power as a Healing Sheild So that they will no longer bear the stain of abuse. Niskam, I am Committed Partner: One who shares her spirit, But is wise to remember never to give it away, Lest it become lost, And the two become less than one. I am Woman. Hear me. Welal'in. Ta'ho!
Mother, sing me a song That will ease my pain, Mend broken bones, Bring wholeness again. Catch my babies When they are born, Sing my death song, Teach me how to mourn. Show me the Medicine Of the healing herbs, The value of spirit, The way I can serve. Mother, heal my heart So that I can see The gifts of yours That can live through me.

Drama

I can say that drama is something many participate in others seem to think its fun. Fun is hanging with friends chatting listening to tunes working on postives laughing but for me drama hos can pack it a sack and carry their happy azzes away from me. Id rather help someone clean their pc up from an infection or be with my honey than to sit and listen to or be part of drama!! I used to be ornery to "Drama LLamas" bores me to death now. It was fun to talk smack to them now Blah!! Pe@ce OUT
I will draw thorns from your feet. We will walk the White Path of Life together. Like a brother of my own blood, I will love you. I will wipe tears from your eyes. When you are sad, I will put your aching heart to rest.

Legend of The Cedar Tree

A long time ago when the Cherokee people were new upon the earth, they thought that life would be much better if there was never any night. They beseeched the Ouga (Creator) that it might be day all the time and that there would be no darkness. The Creator heard their voices and made the night cease and it was day all the time. Soon, the forest was thick with heavy growth. It became difficult to walk and to find the path. The people toiled in the gardens many long hours trying to keep the weeds pulled from among the corn and other food plants. It got hot, very hot, and continued that way day after long day. The people began to find it difficult to sleep and became short tempered and argued among themselves. Not many days had passed before the people realized they had made a mistake and, once again, they beseeched the Creator. "Please," they said, "we have made a mistake in asking that it be day all the time. Now we think that it should be night all the time." The Creator paused at this new request and thought that perhaps the people may be right even though all things were created in twos... representing to us day and night, life and death, good and evil, times of plenty and those times of famine. The Creator loved the people and decided to make it night all the time as they had asked. The day ceased and night fell upon the earth. Soon, the crops stopped growing and it became very cold. The people spent much of their time gathering wood for the fires. They could not see to hunt meat and with no crops growing it was not long before the people were cold, weak, and very hungry. Many of the people died. Those that remained still living gathered once again to beseech the Creator. "Help us Creator," they cried! "We have made a terrible mistake. You had made the day and the night perfect, and as it should be, from the beginning. We ask that you forgive us and make the day and night as it was before." Once again the Creator listened to the request of the people. The day and the night became, as the people had asked, as it had been in the beginning. Each day was divided between light and darkness. The weather became more pleasant, and the crops began to grow again. Game was plentiful and the hunting was good. The people had plenty to eat and there was not much sickness. The people treated each other with compassion and respect. It was good to be alive. The people thanked the Creator for their life and for the food they had to eat. The Creator accepted the gratitude of the people and was glad to see them smiling again. However, during the time of the long days of night, many of the people had died, and the Creator was sorry that they had perished because of the night. The Creator placed their spirits in a newly created tree. This tree was named a-tsi-na tlu-gv {ah-see-na loo-guh} cedar tree. When you smell the aroma of the cedar tree or gaze upon it standing in the forest, remember that if you are Tsalagi {Cherokee}, you are looking upon your ancestor. Tradition holds that the wood of the cedar tree holds powerful protective spirits for the Cherokee. Many carry a small piece of cedar wood in their medicine bags worn around the neck. It is also placed above the entrances to the house to protect against the entry of evil spirits. A traditional drum would be made from cedar wood. Does the author believe this? Well, lets just say that there is a piece of cedar in my medicine pouch and I wear it always. The Creator did not make the people because of loneliness, but because the Creator wanted to show generosity and love to the people. Accept the blessings and the gifts given and always give thanks for them.
