Cherrytap in the paper

Three surfers find a new way to drink -- online Reuters Thursday, March 8, 2007; 3:38 PM NEW YORK (Reuters) - Three U.S. surfing friends whose jobs moved them to different cities have come up with a way to continue their weekly drinking session -- in an online pub that even has happy hours. The founders of CherryTAP claim to have set up the Internet's first online pub that gives users the nuances of a pub but from the comfort of their home computer or laptop. "We liked to go after a long day at work to a bar and hang out and have a few drinks," said Bill Lee, 36, a freelance marketer from San Francisco who was one of the three founders. "When we moved apart we couldn't do that anymore so we wanted to recreate that online." Lee said CherryTAP, which now has over 700,000 users in the United States and Britain, was different from other social networking sites as you did not need to have a network of friends already. It also did not take advertising. Instead CherryTAP has just launched "happy hours," where users pay $100 to sponsor an hour-long session, with their name appearing at the top of the site and other users raising their glasses to toast them. "Users can give each other virtual drinks and this makes people more comfortable to chat to each other," said Lee who set up the site with friends Mike Headlund, 28, a computer consultant, and kiteboard instructor Ryan Riccitelli, 34. "The person who sponsors happy hour becomes the most popular person on that site and they get 15 minutes of fame." Instead of a barman, who in a real pub is often used as a sounding board, users can send in questions which are answered by the community and there is a team of volunteer bouncers to ensure people in the online pub behaved. "You don't have to drink but it can be an icebreaker. You can give people virtual drinks and get chatting," said Lee.

The Middle Finger Well, now......here's something I never knew before, and now that I know it, I feel compelled to send it on to my more intelligent friends in the hope that they, too, will feel edified. Isn't history more fun when you know something about it? Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of every captured English soldier. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future. His famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as "plucking the yew" (or "pluck yew"). Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset. And began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew! Since 'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster at the beginning has gradually changed to a labiodentals fricative F', and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute! It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as "giving the bird." And yew thought yew knew every plucking thing!

Here is what I posted in a mumm today about a stepparent having a hard time after his stepson came back from visitation with his bioligical dad, and the child acts mean and horrible but his wife will not allow any spanking or taking away toys or any punishment at all she believes its wrong.....Here is what I posted to this mumm....( thie link is,http://www.cherrytap.com/mum.php?id=36665#) .. being a step parent does not make anyone less of a parent..they are still a PARENT...and let me be frank for just a second....if she does not believe in spanking or taking stuff away, then what DOES she believe in, her child being in jail or worse one day? Because that is just what is going to happen...... That is total BS ...so if nobody should recieve any type of punishment for anything thenwhat the hell do we have cops, and judges for...hell lets all jsut do whatever we feel like apparently there is no punishment...if she fell its wrong to punish, then what is she going to do about it..."punish you"??? She can't she feels punishment is wrong.....see what an oxymoron that is?? That makes no sense...Its takes two to raise a child.......people make me sick sometimes, they blame the parents if the chilren act like hellions, but then try to say spanking or punishment is wrong......hell we are mammals, we screw, eat, shit and sleep like other mammals, but we should not punish our children like our intinct says to do? Ok then , prepare for your child to make real good friends with "Bubba" in prison one day....oh that is if your lucky not to have to bury them at the age of 18....because they have been shot and killed due to not following rules, or maybe they joined a gang because they needed the structure and disiple a "family" is supposed to give.... Tell her to take some parenting classes....not teaching yoru child right from wrong and not giving them consequences is abuse....not disiplining your child with the love and care and patience that parents are supposed to do!!!!!!!

Bored.......

Is anybody else a little bored now with Cherry tap? Its like well,...hmmm not much else to do now......And so many people take it too seriously.....
People come into your life for a REASON, a SEASON or a LIFETIME. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season . LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.
