Popular Internet social network MySpace said on Tuesday it detected and deleted 29,000 convicted sex offenders on its service, more than four times the figure it had initially reported. The company, owned by media conglomerate News Corp., said in May it had deleted about 7,000 user profiles that belonged to convicted offenders. MySpace attracts about 60 million unique visitors monthly in the United States. The new information was first revealed by U.S. state authorities after MySpace turned over information on convicted sex offenders it had removed from the service. "The exploding epidemic of sex offender profiles on MySpace--29,000 and counting--screams for action," Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said in a statement. Blumenthal, who led a coalition of state authorities to lobby MySpace for more stringent safeguards for minors, and other state AGs have demanded the service begin verifying a user's age and require parental permission for minors. The minimum age to register on MySpace is 14. "We're pleased that we've successfully identified and removed registered sex offenders from our site and hope that other social networking sites follow our lead," MySpace Chief Security Officer Hemanshu Nigam said in a statement. The service has come under attack over the past year after some of its young members fell prey to adult predators posing as minors. The families of several teenage girls sexually assaulted by MySpace members sued the service in January for failing to safeguard its young members. Late last year, it struck a partnership with background verification company Sentinel Tech Holdings to co-develop the first U.S. national database of convicted sex offenders to make it easier to track offenders on the Internet. Convicted sex offenders are required by law to register their contact information with local authorities. But the information has only been available on regional databases, making nationwide searches difficult. As of May, there were about 600,000 registered sex offenders in the United States.

You know it is petty sad when someone runs a contest and when it is time to pay up they dont come threw, I have a friend that I helped and this girl promised a 3 day blast to the winner, now he payed up with giving me a vette, when does he get his payment? Have tryed everything to sending her mail to posting bullitens and seems no one cares, It isnt right, How would you like this done to you.....for this reason i will not ever inter into a contest.

I have gained alot of new friends here, I am thankful for you all. My time the last few months has been really tough, but thanks to my friends i have made it threw it. So my hat is off to my friends on cherry tap!

tonite i have thought alot about my father. how i am so much like him and how he wanted so much for me to succeed. i see myself slipping away from who i am to someone who is very closed to the world. how can you be so close to someone? its nothing like having a spouse that you love. this that i found fits:

Well, Made it back from California. I am so wore out. Just the getting Dads things packed and loaded and having to deal with my sister. I havent had the break down yet. Sure it is coming soon. Probly when I start putting Dads things in my house. It was hard to leave his home, knowing it will never be the same. Its such a mess from trying to go threw things. Well may take me a bit to get it all together and be back to normal, but sure i will get there soon. My uncle that lived next door to my Dad (rented from my father) passed on Feb 14th. So I really got a double wammy. Just want them both to know, that I love them Deeply!

For those of my Friends, knowing my father passed last month. I will be gone from here til the 7th of next month. Have to go back to california and get Daddys things. Stay safe, Be kind, and i will be back with you soon.....

30 some years ago, my father that just passed become very good friends with a man. I have grown up knowing him as uncle even though he isnt any relation. found out after i got back from my fathers Celebration of life, that my uncle has cancer. In his throat is a tumor that is unoperatable. and cancer on his lung. he is in stage 5 and it is the last stage. he was taken to the hospital this morn with a stroke and cardiact arrest. Please give your prayers a small thought for my uncle and let him go without pain. Thank you

For those of you that don't know me, and those that do. I have been going threw some ruff times right know. You all have helped me take my mind off of my aching heart. My Father passed Jan 16th 2007, We were very close but lived so far away from each other. The knowing that I have to go back to Calif and collect alot of his stuff is really wieghing on my heart, to rehash all the feelings and heartbreak. I dont want to seem uncaring or corse, just very confused and knowing I dont have him to bounce ideas off of anymore. Guess I am here alone for the first time and unsure how to deal with that. You all have help me feel a void in my life, and for that I am deeply grateful. May you all be happy and full of life!
