OMG I can't believe how quickly my little girl is growing up!!!! I thought I was ready for it, boy was I wrong!
I teased her over the summer about seeing her crush, Brock. He's a cutie, she takes after her mom in having good taste LOL. She is 12 going on 30, I swear! When we went school clothes shopping, I realized how much she has grown. Boy am I going to have my hands full!
So, I was asking her last week what she was going to wear today. She said she didn't know, but she wanted her friends to notice her, but not really, and that she wanted to stand out, but blend in. In other words, she wanted to show off her curves, but not have EVERYONE notice, just Brock. LOL I even said something, oh, so you just want Brock to notice you right? I get the OMG look and, "MOOOOM, you're gonna make me blush!" Which she did. HA I told her, "Angelica, I've been there sweety, I know exactly what you're going through." As if mom....
So she calls me after school today, everything went well, except her Language Arts teacher is strict. Something about sitting back down, IDK, she's a preteen girl, you know how they can be...rambling, talking too fast, whatever. Besides, I wasn't really paying attention. LMAO Once she hits a certain tone, everything is pretty much incomprehensible anyway. I just pretend to listen, unless I think I hear something I need clarification on and then I ask her to calm down and repeat herself.
So anyway, I asked her if Brock was in her Language Arts class, because he was last year. She said, a little sadly, no, BUT, more excitedly, we have lunch together! I was like oh cool, did you say hi??? No, he walked in and kinda walked by really fast, but he looked at me out of the corner of his eye and gulped. OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
I wanted to die laughing! I am so happy for her that she and her crush still like each other, but I'm still her mom and she's too young! LOL I mean, I KNOW she's a beautiful young lady, but then again I'm biased. I just love hearing her so happy and excited about something again. Other than Naruto. LOL
So anyway, the summer break was good for everyone it seems, and I'm sure Brock is going to have an even harder time working up the nerve to talk to her now. (He bought her ice cream last year.....)That's good though. Really, I'm just glad she's so happy. She's been through enough b/s in her life so far, it's good that she has something to make her happy that isn't family related.
So, with a huge sigh, here we go with another school year, one step closer to my having to admit that my baby isn't such a litte girl anymore. It saddens me, but makes me happy at the same time. I know my job isn't over yet, but if I've done the good job I think I have so far, she'll do just fine.
