Free shipping has long been used as an effective marketing and promotional strategy by ecommerce sites to increase their sales and revenue. Here is how to set up free shipping in Magento on minimum purchase amount:
1. On the Admin panel of your Magento site, select Configuration under Systems head.
2. Select Shipping Methods under Sales panel on the left side.
3. Expand the Free Shipping section. In the window opened, perform following functions.Set Enabled to Yes.
i.Set Enabled to Yes.
ii.Give a Title to this shipping method.
iii.Enter an explanatory Method Name for this shipping method.
iv.Fill in the Minimum Order Amount to qualify order for free shipping.
v.Type an error message in the Displayed Error Message box to appear when this present method is not applicable.
vi.Under Ship to Applicable Countries, choose All Allowed Countries or Specific Countries option based on whether you wish to provide this shipping method to all countries specified in your store configuration or to selected specific countries from the list.
vii.Set Show Method if Not Applicable to
Yes - Always show free shipping method, even if not applicable.
No- Show free shipping only when applicable.
viii. In the Sort Order number space, enter a number to determine the position of Free Shipping in the list of shipping methods during checkout (0= First, 1= Second, 2= Third, and so on).
4. Click the Save Config button.
5. To enable and configure Free Shipping in your UPS configuration:
i. Click and expand the UPS configuration in the Shipping Methods configuration.
ii. In UPS section, set Free Method to ‘Ground’.
iii. To set a minimum order amount for free shipping, ‘Enable’ Free Shipping with Minimum Order Amount.
iv. Fill in the required min. amount in the field of Minimum Order Amount for Free Shipping.
6. Click the Save Config button.
