Meteorman's blog: "Happiness"

You started it!

A young attractive guy walked into the local welfare office to pick up his check. He marched straight up to the counter and said, ' Hi. You know, I just HATE drawing welfare. I'd really rather have a job.' The social worker behind the counter said, 'Your timing is excellent. We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who wants a Chauffeur and bodyguard for his beautiful daughter. You'll have to drive around in his 2008 Mercedes-Benz CL, and he will supply all of your clothes. Because of the long hours, meals will be provided. You'll also be expected to escort the daughter on her overseas holiday trips. This is rather awkward to say but you will also have as part of your job assignment to satisfy her sexual urges as the daughter is in her mid-20's and has a rather strong sex drive. A two-bedroom loft type apartment with plasma T V, stereo, bar, etc. located above the garage, will be designated for your sole use and the salary is $200,000 a year. 'The guy, just plain wide-eyed, said, 'You're bullshittin' me! The social worker said, ' Yeah, well . You started it.'
2008-07-11 01:40:43 I was sitting here at 1:13 AM thinking, and decided to start journaling again. I took some writing classes in college and really enjoyed them and found theraputic value in them. This blog is about me, my life and my thoughts at any given time. I will try to keep it real, but I aint (yeah I said aint) keeping it that real. A human being has to keep something personal. So here are my thoughts for this evening. I was thinking about a childhood friend tonight, Jimmy. We both moved away from home in the mid 70's. He enlisted in the Navy, and I enlisted in the Airforce about 6 months later. I got in touch with Jim a while back after not seeing him for close to 25 years. I also spoke to Jim a couple of months ago shortly after my 50th birthday. He and I are the same age, but I am a little older. What brings this relationship to mind this evening is a new consulting gig I started yesterday. The company I am contracting with licenses and collects royalties for digital images submitted by the professional photographers. The last time I talked to Jim, he told me his mother has retired from years of working as a nurse, and she is doing volunteer work in Africa. So I'm thinking now that's cool. I wonder if she can send me some pictures?

Happy Birthday to me

This is a poem written for me on my birthday by my the famous poet, Gina Williams who is my ex-wife. Lee, You're 50 now, it's only an age. For your book of life, it's only a page. The pages have turned, one after another, and in a few pages, I was your lover. Though that chapter closed and came to an end, I'm still in your book as a true and blue friend. I wouldn't miss a chance on your 50th to say I hope all that you want in your life comes your way. Happy Happy Birthday and here's to a wonderful year for you. Be blessed and at your best. Love Always Gina

Toes

Be careful how you treat one another. The toes you step on today could be connected to an ass you'll have to kiss tomorrow.

Desiderata

This is my favorite poem in the whole world. It was thought that it was written by an old church, or old church sexton. The first time I read the poem it was on a poster on a friend's all, which said it was written by an old church, or old church sexton. However it was actually written by the poet Max Ehrmann, and represents his philosophy on life. I hope this brings you feelings of peace and happiness as it does me every time I read it. Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silince. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ingnorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than youself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspiriations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. Max Ehrmann 1927
