Update on the Animal Cruelty Case that HEALS was working on: (Lady with two dogs tied in the yard mistreating them and starving them to death)
Dear HEALS supporters, this story is heading for a happy ending. The lady was forced to surrender the two dogs and she was charged with 8 charges of animal cruelty. They gave her the opportunity to take the dogs to the vet at first but she refused. The dogs are now in a vets care in the shelter. They were found underweight and under nourished. The staff said that when they gave them a bowl of food they eat it so fast...so fast that it was UNBELIEVABLE! They will remain in custody of the shelter for about 6-8 weeks. Once healthy, HEALS has put in a request to rescue them and find them a good home. We at HEALS would like to thank Officer Josh Long of the NJ SPCA who work quickly to assure the safety of these dogs. Officer Josh Long kept HEALS fully informed throughout the whole process.
