On the subject of immigration/illegal aliens:
Closing our borders is not going to help. That is like trying to hold back the ocean with a broom. It is not only impossible, but it isn't America, as least not the one I risked my life in Vietnam for. No, this will not work. Lets face it, most of us, unless you are an American Indian, immigrated here, so lets forget this as a solution. Think: What do people come here for - freedom? A better way of life? The chance to be someone or make something of themselves? Well these are the people we want here, at least I sure do. I am afraid there is another reason people come here though. It has to do with free, but not so much freedom as freeload. We give away food, school medical and what ever else anyone wants. The working person foots the bill. It has gotten so bad that soon there will be nothing left for the working person that put in there time and honestly earned these things. The "taking" of these things without putting anything back is what the real problem is, not immigration. If we shut off the free - if we no longer allow illegals in our schools; if we turn off the free medical and the drain on the social security system, the tide will be stemmed. The flood will stop. Stop putting the milk on the porch and the cats will no longer hang around your house.
Don't get me wrong. I don't want to hold back from those that really need help, just from those that "take" from and use the system. It is time to wake up. If you agree with me, let others know. Let your congressmen know. Be heard.
