We are legally forced to get auto insurance because a car is viewed as a deadly weapon by the police. We get insurance to cover injury or death of anyone killed or hurt, or for property damage cause by the car we own and drive. To cover accidents.
Lots of people are killed or injured due to gun accidents or because a gun was not used properly. Therefore I would propose that all gun owners must get insurance for each gun they own. It should be the law and those who do not would be subject to stiff fines.
It is only fair, if I must have auto insurance you need to have gun insurance, a stray bullet might end up in my house.
The insurance policy (amount paid) would depend on what kind of gun you buy or own, some are more dangerous or less safe then others.
You would have an option of being insured in case a thief takes your gun.
Do you favor the idea of gun owners being forced to have gun insurance or not, being it is the responsible thing to do?
