"DEVOLUTION"
Yo, it's a rap, yo. Check it out!
pshhht.
What scientists refer to as "natural selection"
is just society's endless quest for perfection.
We filter the images our eyes behold
by standards that our weakened minds are told
by the media.
They're not the only ones feedin' ya.
Listen to how we talk to one another.
Derogatory,
trynna be hard.
Name-callin like 4th-graders
scrappin' in the schoolyard.
So much disrespect
and comparin' this to that.
You ain't no goddamn better
just 'cause someone else is "fat".
Exploiting our differences--
It's a shame
how fast the words come from your lips,
but when it comes to seein' how we're all the same,
suddenly you can't say shit!
Do we really want to be a bunch of clones?
So that once we're all perfect
we'll never be alone?
Oh honey, that ass is saggin'
You're showin' your age.
Better jump on the wagon.
Perfection's the rage!
Look at plastic surgeons
feedin' egos' urges
to take some of the jelly out
put a few more curves in,
Make this part fuller,
lift this part higher,
Pump me up with silicone,
Prop me up with wires!
We gotta chop, crop & Photoshop
whiten and brighten,
Pluck, paste and spackle,
exfoliate and tighten.
How ya like me NOW?
Am I HOT...
or am I NOT?
If you think I'm ugly now
you should see my "before" shot!
Is this "natural selection"
or "magical correction"?
Abracadabra *POOF*
Instant perfection
What's so correct about it?
If you think about it,
our gene pool's gettin' mucked up,
no doubt about it!
We're masking nature's flaws
and defying evolution's laws,
so we can shop at 5*7*9
and start buyin' bigger bras
Maybe it's the only way to keep the competition "fair"
We'll all put on the same damn mask
and screw whoever's there
I'm hot, you're hot,
Let's do it, why not?
Soon Brad Pitts and beauty queens
be havin' babies with messed up genes
with 3 eyeballs and an extra toe
and hair where ain't NO hair s'posed to grow!
And then, as history has always shown,
we hold such hatred for the unknown.
What's different to us is so hard to embrace--
the saddest thing about the human race.
We strive to be perfect
or at least better than YOU
but when it's all said and done,
we hate ourselves, too.
So the lesson learned from our failed attempts--
FAMILIARITY BREEDS CONTEMPT.
You are unique! Embrace it.
:)
