Does it hurt when Daddy loves you I know you wouldn't lie Does it tickle when he hits you Are you happy when you cry Makeup hides the bruises Tissues dry the tears Pills help the smile stay But nothing hides the fear We go to church on Sunday But you stay home with him Why do you hide your happiness From the house of holy men You tell me that he loves you He only does when he's high When I call for help to save you You tell me not to lie It hurts when Daddy loves you You're too blind too see While you're hiding in the shadows Daddy's loving me

When is Daddy coming home I miss him every day He went to work in the desert And he has no place to play Can I send my baseball Since he can't play catch with me Then we can play together No matter where he may be Maybe I'll tell a story About the time we spent together About the days we fished and played In fine and stormy weather Does he have our pictures One of me and you I really miss my Daddy I bet he misses me too When he comes home again We can be together You and me Daddy A happy family together

Mama do I love you Tell me is it true How can I love someone Who does the things you do You make me comb my hair Make my bed, brush my teeth Keep my clothes clean and neat You cook the vegis you make me eat I muss my hair Feed the dog all the vegis that you cook Create chaos and disorder Everywhere you look You scream and fuss and holler As you clean up all my mess Then you smile and reassure me And we start all over again Now I'm all grown up I think of all you made me do I have just one thing left to say Mom, I love you too

The monster after closing time Creeps through my bedroom door Most nights I don't worry It passes out on the floor Once in a while though It finds me in my bed After that, the things it does Never leave my head I don't see it in the light Just my father after work When it comes to closing time It stumbles from the dark When its deed is done It Crawls into my father's bed It disappears upon the spot Where Father lays his head When I'm grown and gone My troubles far behind The monster that once haunted me Still prays upon my mind

Letters in the sand Fallen from his hand He misses where they come from I know where they've been Kept inside his heart To save him from the dark And from a war they say Never should have been One was from his brother Who said he never should have gone Another from his wife Who wrote about her love for him On and on and on The last was from his mother She sent him all her love When he comes back to her Please bring another home Letters in his hand Fallen to the sand He fell upon the fray To save another man As he saved a fellow soldier His own life falling fast He thanked his brother, wife and mother Then he breathed his last

I lost her in the desert I pray she's not gone far She left to save her country From a foreign war I see her in my pleasant dreams And others not so good I've lost my desert angel It's for her soul I look I stare across the ocean I gaze into the sun I will find my angel And shower her with love Hear the guns and see the bombs Destroying a way of life My angels out there somewhere Suffering through the strife When She comes back home again Her dirty deeds long gone I'll hold her in my arms again Keep that angel near my heart

I pray for you my Charlotte I know you've not gone far Hear my words of love for you And the child that you are I pray for your forgiveness For I wasn't there to save you from the darkness that caught you unaware I beg you pray for Mother She knows not what she did She drowned her soul in tears When they closed the coffin lid Tomorrow they condemn her To the fate she suffered you She won't die from beating Like the one she gave to you Mother will die quickly It's what the jury says is fair She'll be rested when she joins you She'll be strapped into the chair
