Immigration protests

I'm not sure what to think about the most recent national protest " a day without immigrants". I'm all for legal immigration in which people go through the proper channels to obtain legal status. What I am against is illegal immigration.  Illegal immigration is akin to line cutting. Where a person who is trying to do it the right way for a half a decade or more  gets bumped because someone who crosses illegally jumps the line.

Now I've seen posts and comments saying "we all are illegal immigrants." My response is no, we aren't all illegal immigrants because in order for something to be illegal or legal, there needs to be regulations and laws. When our ancestors arrived from Europe, it was more like an invasion or hostile take over. The producers of the Declaration of Independence created government and laws which set the precident of what is and is not legal. Everyone who says our ancestors invaded this land and took it from Native Americans should leave this land if that's how they feel, but where will they go?

But hey if you want to protest immigration, great! More power to you. Just make sure you are protesting against illegal immigration and work for better immigration reform and a quicker process. Also if you are protesting and it conflicts with your employer, run it by them first or face the consequences. Many states have an "At will" employment policy and a no-call no show is grounds for termination and this is legal.

That is all
