No one deserves violence against them, especially the people who died on 9-11. They were of all races, all religions, and all killed for no reason. Some will pontificate that is was the will of their god that did this, but it wasn't. It was the act of a cowardly, selfish man. Osama bin Laden is a coward. He hides like a rat, or a snake in a hole, and send many a man, woman, and even children off to die in the name of Allah. Funny, he oesn't have the courage to carry out attacks himself, but that is what cowards do.
There is a lot anger from those attacks, even now, six years later. The fear, the horror we all felt. It is something that does not easily fade away. What must subside in this world is hatred. Hatred and intolerance spawned these attacks. We as a country have to show the world that we will not lay down. There is a favorite line in a movie I like. "It's not about how hard you can hit, but how hard you can get hit, and keep getting back up. We gotta get up, we gotta show these fanatics that no matter how many times they try, no matter how hard they hit us, our resolve will never waver, and to do that, to show them that we will get up each and every time. That, that is a way to honor those who died. I didn't personally know anyone who was killed in the 9-11 attacks. I can imagine a familys sorrow if they lost a loved one. Firefighters, police, first responders, they did not run, they stayed and did their job. They would not give up. What I'm trying to say is, we can't give up on our humanity. It is what makes us who we are.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those who lost a brother, sister, mother, father, or friend in those attacks. Remember them all as they were, smiling, whatever memory yu have of them, do not use this day to commemorate their deaths, but to celebrate their lives, because each and every one was special and is sorely missed.
