Double-Amputee Veteran Rob Jones Nears End of Bike Ride Across America for Wounded Soldiers

Paralympian Rob Jones is “Going for the Gold” again. After loosing both of his legs to an IED in Afghanistan, this young combat engineer fought back. He learned to row, winning a Bronze Medal in the Paralympics in London in 2012 to go with his Purple Heart. Now, Rob is biking across the country, over 5000 MILES, to raise awareness and money for three military charities that helped him in his darkest hours. He wants to “Pay it Forward” so that he can assist other veterans with challenges like his, stand on their own and live. He is raising money for nationally recognized charities such as The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes, Semper Fi, and Ride2Recovery. Since leaving Maine in October, Rob has biked without human legs over 4000 miles through 17 states and right over the Rockies in the dead of winter, on snow covered highways. He has persevered through Arctic weather and wind, with broken prosthetic parts, bike parts and support truck parts. Nothing deters his bravery and his unwavering determination to reach the California Coastline, one pedal rotation at a time. He pedals on average 35 miles a day and he is self-funding his journey. His brother Steve follows behind in a support truck. Come out and meet this American Hero and show your support when he bikes through Fallon, anticipated to be on March 17. A Welcoming Reception is being planned. You too can also help give back to our injured soldiers who have stood the post for our freedom. Donations to the 3 charities that Rob supports can be made through Rob’s website and are linked directly to the charities. Visit http://www.robjonesjourney.com to donate (click the donation tab) and learn more. If you aren’t in a position to donate, please show your support by liking him on Facebook, Rob Jones Journey, sharing his story on Social Media, tweeting his story with a link to @robjonesjourney, or simply waving your flag as he bikes by. You will honor not just Rob, but the soldiers and Nation that he represents.
