Standing on the edge of the summit
I stepped off and began to plummet
Turning to ashes on the descent
And spinning on the wind I went
*
Suddenly I felt a pulling on my soul
And amazingly from ashes I was whole
But my body felt like it was on fire
Wings I now had, so I had to fly higher
*
My body and wings were all aflame
From ashes, a Phoenix, I became
Rising towards the sun, becoming light
Darkness I no longer had to fight
*
The Phoenix transformed me into beauty
That I had never thought to see
Burning away the hurt and pain
Clearing my mind, erasing the stains
*
Letting me rise above the valley
To the mountain high, a new vision to me
Letting me know that the lows have highs
from below, with my new wings I can rise
*
Shining in flames of reds and yellows
I feel my ascent starting to slow
I hover high above the earth
And believe that I finally have worth
*
Slowly I return and gently settle to the ground
With new found sight I look around
New thoughts appearing in my mind
A brand new me, I shall soon find
*
