I have been in Indianapolis a little over a year, this past August. My first Christmas here didn't really count because I was still settling into my surroundings. This is the first one, where I had time enough to get ready.
In the last year, I succeeded in landing gainfull employment. A job, whereby I could forge a starting point in order to better my living arangements. Better apartment, drivers licence, car, girlfriend, ect. But that will come to fruition in the upcoming year.
This year is, for a better metaphor, melloncholly. The holiday season will be spent alone, relaxing, working on my art, playing my X-Box, and/or watching tv. I'm not getting or receiving any gifts or Christmas cards, although I will be sending some money to my children. It will seem a little empty, though.
But as life has taught me in the last year, patience is a virtue. I know not to rush things. Thats where I have gotten in trouble before. Time is a constant. Time is forgiving. And time is my friend. If I stop trying to worry about what other people think of me and my life and concentrate on bettering myself, things will get a lot easier and more fluid.
I have learned, "You are, what you think you are", not what other people think you are. Its your life, do with it what you want. Next year is going to be very interesting indeed.
