Twenty-three years is a long time to love, an entire lifetime for some.
When you get used to something, it makes it that much harder to get un-used to it. When every breath you take has been taken advantage of, forgiveness truly appears unfathomable.
I can remember the good times. Long, lonely nights of restlessness, you were there to calm and soothe me. You were there in the morning to wake me up and help me make it through each day.
When the troubles of my world seemed to overtake me, a moment didn't pass by when you weren't always there for me.
When I was ill, you helped me endure sickness. When I was depressed, you gave me a sense of security.
In bad times, you calmed my hungry soul, and kept me going when I felt I couldn't make it alone.
Sometimes I wonder how I can go on without you. When I see you with someone else, can I prevent myself from trying to take you back? I must have strength and acknowledge the fact we must perservere alone.
I will miss you cigarette... farewell...
