2:17 p.m. -- GREEN FLAG: David Reutimann leads the field to the line for the Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Lap 1 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jeff Gordon edges Reutimann at the line in a side-by-side battle at the front.

Lap 4 -- Robby Gordon gets tapped by Kurt Busch and slides up the trck but saves it and we continue under green.

Lap 8 -- LEAD CHANGE: Reutimann works his way back around Gordon in Turn 3.

Lap 9 -- Jeff Gordon drops to third as Kenseth gets by.

Lap 13 -- Jeff Gordon reports that his car is extremely loose.

Lap 16 -- Menard gets around Jeff Gordon for third.

Lap 20 -- Reutimann leads Kenseth by 1.65 seconds as Stewart passes Jeff Gordon for fourth.

Lap 23 -- Kasey Kahne with a big bobble coming out of Turn 4 but gets it straightened out and continues.

Lap 24 -- Kurt Busch is on the move, up to 19th from 26th, while Kevin Harvick is quickly going the other way.

Lap 27 -- Reutimann is already into lapped traffic.

Lap 29 -- Stewart gets inside Menard for third.

Lap 30 -- Earnhardt Jr. is on the move, up eight places to 12th.

Lap 40 -- Reutimann leads Kenseth by 1.7 seconds, with 35 cars remaining on the lead lap.

Lap 42 -- Marcos Ambrose, who ran well on the short tracks of Bristol and Martinsville, is up to seventh.

Lap 47 -- LEAD CHANGE: Reutimann gets bottled up behind Casey Mears and Kenseth acquires the top spot on the backstretch.

Lap 51 -- LEAD CHANGE: Green flag pit stops begin, with Kenseth, Montoya, Truex Jr. heading for pit road. Stewart inherits the lead.

Lap 52 -- A major wedge adjustment for Jeff Gordon.

Lap 54 -- LEAD CHANGE: Stewart is in, giving the lead to Kyle Busch.

Lap 55 -- LEAD CHANGE: Kyle Busch heads for service and the lead cycles back to Kenseth.

Lap 60 -- Kenseth has a 2.1-second lead over Reutimann, with 31 cars on the lead lap. Harvick is the first car one lap down. The top five:

Lap 68 -- Stewart stalks Reutimann for several laps before finally making the pass for second.

Lap 76 -- Stewart has closed to within a second of the lead as Kenseth is fighting his way through lapped cars.

Lap 79 -- Biffle zooms past Reutimann for third.

Lap 81 -- Jimmie Johnson, last week's winner, is well back in 17th.

Lap 88 -- LEAD CHANGE: Stewart goes to the outside of Kenseth in the dogleg to take position No. 1.

Lap 97 -- CAUTION FLAG NO. 1: Debris on the backstretch. Allmendinger will get the free pass.

Lap 98 -- The 23 cars still on the lead lap head for the pits:
• Kenseth goes for a slight track bar and air pressure adjustment.
• Biffle goes for a slight air pressure adjustment.
• Stewart gets air in the left rear.
• Kyle Busch has a lug nut hang up and loses several positions.

Lap 102 -- GREEN FLAG: Kenseth brings the field to the stripe.

Lap 109 -- Kyle Busch comes to pit road under green with a cut left front tire after contact with John Andretti. He returns to the track and gets quickly up to speed to avoid losing two laps to the leaders.

Lap 117 -- LEAD CHANGE: Biffle gets around teammate Kenseth.

Lap 120 -- The top five at this point:
1. Greg Biffle
2. Matt Kenseth
3. Tony Stewart
4. David Reutimann
5. Jeff Gordon

Lap 130 -- Gordon flashes by Reutimann on the backstretch for fourth.

Lap 135 -- Biffle has built a three-second lead over Kenseth.

Lap 146 -- Gordon and Stewart both go past a fading Kenseth as crews begin to prepare for possible green-flag stops.

Lap 152 -- Kenseth is one of the first cars in.

Lap 153 -- LEAD CHANGE: Johnson and leader Biffle is in. That hands the lead for one lap to Jeff Gordon.

Lap 154 -- LEAD CHANGE: Gordon, Stewart and Reutimann head for service. Ragan leads for the first time today.

Lap 155 -- NASCAR assesses penalties to Kevin Harvick (too fast exiting) and Kyle Busch (too fast entering).

Lap 156 -- LEAD CHANGE: Martin heads for the pits, giving the lad back to Biffle.

Lap 157 -- CAUTION FLAG NO. 2: Elliott Sadler loses it coming out of Turn 4 and slides across the start-finish line. Vickers, who lost a lap during the pit cycle, gets the free pass.

Lap 158 -- Because all of the top cars pitted within the last few laps, none of the leaders opts for service. However, Kyle Busch is in for more repairs to the fender. And Reutimann has lost a lap for pitting outside of his box. Johnson has made three stops to make adjustments, and is running 16th.

Lap 162 -- GREEN FLAG: Biffle brings the field to the line. The top five:
1. Greg Biffle
2. Matt Kenseth
3. Jeff Gordon
4. Tony Stewart
5. Kurt Busch

Lap 170 -- Worth mentioning: Montoya and Martin are just inside the top 10, with Earnhardt Jr. lurking in 11th. And Johnson is up to 12th as the adjustments appear to be helping.

Lap 190 -- Leader Biffle may have a windshield tearoff stuck in the supports for the front valance, but it doesn't appear to be slowing him down. He's nearly three seconds ahead of Kenseth.

Lap 195 -- Jamie McMurray and Reed Sorenson are well off the pace with mechanical issues. Sorenson just headed for the garage.

Lap 200 -- The top five with 134 laps remaining:
1. Greg Biffle
2. Tony Stewart
3. Matt Kenseth
4. Jeff Gordon
5. David Ragan

Lap 203 -- Martin Truex Jr. is on pit road, perhaps starting another series of green-flag stops.

Lap 204 -- Kenseth is the first of the leaders in, as he has been most of the day.

Lap 208 -- LEAD CHANGE: Biffle heads for service as Stewart assumes the top spot.

Lap 209 -- Edwards and Montoya are in. Edwards is still loose, and there's trouble with the left front lugnuts.

Lap 210 -- LEAD CHANGE: Jeff Burton and Junior head down pit row, followed by Stewart. And A.J. Allmendinger's car has stalled in the middle of the pit lane.Gordon leads.

Lap 211 -- LEAD CHANGE: Gordon's in, along with Kurt Busch as Martin assumes the lead.

Lap 213 -- LEAD CHANGE: Here comes Martin, putting Johnson and Menard 1-2. But they still must stop.

Lap 214 -- LEAD CHANGE: Menard leads when Johnson pits.

Lap 215 -- LEAD CHANGE: Menard is the final one of the leaders to stop, which puts Biffle back in charge, by 1.5 seconds over Kenseth.

Lap 217 -- Edwards is the big loser, all the way back to ninth. Penske's Stremme (11th) and Hornish Jr. (12th) are having great days.

Lap 220 -- CAUTION FLAG NO. 3: Ambrose loses an engine.

Lap 221 -- Many of the leaders come in, although Gordon and Martin apparently decide to stay out. Earnhardt will have to pit twice to replace a missing lugnut. Biffle loses six spots and will restart seventh.

Lap 222 -- Junior misses his pit stall and has to go around again. Apparently he can't see his signboard with all the lap-down cars in the pits.

Lap 226 -- GREEN FLAG: Gordon leads with 108 laps to go:
1. Jeff Gordon
2. Mark Martin
3. Matt Kenseth
4. Tony Stewart
5. David Ragan

Lap 231 -- CAUTION FLAG NO. 4: Hornish spins coming out of Turn 2 after losing it while running side-by-side with Clint Bowyer. Bobby Labonte also has damage after hitting the outside wall and is heading to the garage. Ryan Newman and Johnson barely missed getting caught up in the incident.

Lap 232 -- Johnson, Junior and Hamlin stop for service. Paul Menard gets the free pass, so there are now 17 cars on the lead lap.

Lap 237 -- GREEN FLAG: Gordon, who has never won at Texas in 16 career starts, has the point with 97 laps remaining:

3. Mark Martin
4. David Ragan
5. Tony Stewart

Lap 241 -- Joey Logano has hit the outside wall and scraped up the entire right side of his car. He may have to pit for repairs.

Lap 250 -- The top five with 84 to go:

5. Tony Stewart

Lap 251 -- CAUTION FLAG NO. 5: Robby Gordon's day is done, as his engine gives up the ghost. Reutimann gets the free pass.

Lap 252 -- All of the leaders are on pit road:
• Problems with the lugs for Kenseth
• No changes for Martin
• Track-bar adjustment for Stewart

Lap 259 -- GREEN FLAG: Pit strategy puts Dale Jr. in the lead for the first time today:
1. Dale Earnhardt Jr.
2. Jeff Gordon
3. Brian Vickers
4. Carl Edwards
5. Tony Stewart

Lap 260 -- LEAD CHANGE: The lapped car of Kyle Busch gets loose on the restart and Junior has to chase way up the track to avoid him. That hands the lead to Gordon. Junior goes all the way back to seventh.

Lap 263 -- Edwards takes second from Vickers, as his decision to change two tires doesn't seem to be working out.

Lap 264 -- Stewart and Ragan work their way around Brian Vickers, and Martin's knocking on the door.

Lap 267 -- Two old tires are creating havoc for Junior, who's hanging on for dear life as the car is very twitchy.

Lap 276 -- Kurt Busch, running eighth, may have a vibration on the right front.

Lap 284 -- Fifty laps to go:

Lap 290 -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. scrapes the wall in Turns 1 and 2 and has to make a green-flag stop.

Lap 294 -- LEAD CHANGE: Edwards gets around as Gordon gets caught behind a lapped car.

Lap 297 -- David Ragan turns into the garage with an early end to the afternoon, spoiling a great day for the young Georgian.

Lap 301 -- "Sideways Sam" Hornish Jr. gets it gathered up after whacking the wall again, but he's still running 13th.

Lap 302 -- CAUTION FLAG NO. 6: David Stremme hits the wall hard, but then spins heading into Turn 3.

Lap 304 -- Here's the money stop for the contenders:
• Carl Edwards has problems on pit road again, both front tire issues
• Stewart takes on tires and one can of fuel
• Gordon goes with a track-bar adjustment

Lap 307 -- GREEN FLAG -- Twenty-seven laps remaining:

Lap 309 -- Johnson blows past Stewart for second, and now he tries to chase down teammate Gordon.

Lap 313 -- With 20 laps remaining, Gordon leads Johnson by 1.4 seconds.

Lap 314 -- Biffle and Matt Kenseth are having a spirited battle for fourth, with Biffle finally finding his way past.

Lap 320 -- David Reutimann, who lost a lap after a pit-road penalty and needed a free pass to get back on the lead lap, is back up to 11th.

Lap 323 -- The interval between Gordon and Johnson is 1.7 seconds.

Lap 328 -- Gordon gets held up by the lapped car of Max Papis, which gives Johnson a chance to gain major ground.

Lap 329 -- Johnson nearly puts the right-rear fender in the wall trying to catch Gordon. The lead is a half-second.

Lap 330 -- Greg Biffle catches Tony Stewart for third.

Lap 333 -- WHITE FLAG: Gordon leads Jimmie Johnson by 10 car-lengths.

Lap 334 -- CHECKERED FLAG: Jeff Gordon wins the Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
