It is a Friday in the early part of spring. The day is so bright and clear it is just calling for me to come outside. The kids are in school and my wife is at work so I have the day to myself. I graduated from high school at the age of seventeen. Afterward, I enlisted in the Marine Corps, went to boot camp in San Diego, graduated from that and was sent to Okinawa and, later, Vietnam. The year was 1968. There was an upcoming Presidential election in November, but I couldn't vote in it. The voting age then was 21. I can't help but think how bad my situation could have resulted. Please refer to my other 2 stories. I resigned from my teaching position that i have had for 23 years.
