A Really Sad Time
Well, another tragedy has affected my life. Tuesday before last I was only one of many whose lives were touched by a terrible, freak accident which took the lives of two good people. It happened on a local secondary road. One of my cousins was driving his pickup truck and hit head on into the path of a high school classmate of mine. It happened on a bridge crossing the river so neither had no where to go. How often would that happen that you would know both parties of such a terrible accident? Both vehicles burst into flames and they both died from the fire, not the impact! He was 17 days thereabouts from graduation and had already landed a job. He was a good ol country boy who loved hunting, trucks, family and music. She was a very nice friend and a wonderful wife and mother. Her husband was following behind her and tried in vain to save her amid her cries for help. My cousin made one last phone call on his cell phone to a family member to tell them of his impending fate. Yes, grass snakes, not rattlesnakes. Here's why......... A couple in Sweetwater, Texas, had a lot of potted plants. During a recent cold spell, the wife was bringing a lot of them indoors to protect them from a possible freeze. It turned out that a little green garden grass snake was hidden in one of the plants and when it had warmed up, it slithered out and the wife saw it go under the sofa. She let out a very loud scream! The husband (who was taking a shower) ran out into the living room naked to see what the problem was. She told him there was a snake under the sofa. He got down on the floor on his hands and knees to look for it. About that time the family dog came and cold-nosed him on the behind. He thought the snake had bitten him, so he screamed and fell over on the floor.

In my opinion, a real friend is a person that is always there for you no matter what happens in your life, gives you the same respect you give them, someone that you trust with all your secrets (whether they be good or bad) and not tell, enjoys some of the same things in life that you do, picks you up when you are down, honest, treats you like they treat their other friends, can take criticism when given, and treats you no different when they are around other friends or someone they are in a relationship with. Its April 14th and it has been 3 years since my brother was killed in a car accident. People think the passage of time makes it easier, but it doesnt. I just returned home frome the cementary where I was visiting, and I cried because I miss him. My brother, Shawn, was only 25 years old when he passed on. If ever there was a person that you could count on it was him. I like to write about him because I dont ever want to forget him. I try to take a lot of his ideals and apply them to my life today. The biggest one that I found the most important is to make time for the people in your life. No mater how busy he was he always made an effort to visit with friends, family, and to occassionally chat up a stranger. He never took a single day for granted, and neither do I anymore. 12-14-09 9:40 am 8 pounds 21 inches! This morning (last night, really) I couldn't sleep. I stayed up going to the bathroom for no reason, reading a book that was okay (but, not all that) until after 5:15 this morning. I was falling asleep and waking almost immediately to read another couple of paragraphs. At 5:45 am this morning my daughter (#2 of 3) called me to ask if I could take her to the birthing center in Brooklyn( we live in Queens) since her hubby had to work. I sit here with the music blaring through the speakers, my fingers floating across the keys, my baby at work and I can't help but think about what how wonderful my life is. I have a wonderful husband who loves me dearly and would do anything for me if I ask. I have a wonderful family. I have everything I could possibly think of. I lucky to be alive. I know now that I made the right decisions for my life for me to be where I am right now. I recently found out that my ex boyfriend who I spent 3 years of my life with was murdered. He was shot multiple times in his apartment by his best friend. He was into some shit that got him in trouble. When I was told I was a mess. I couldn't help but crying. The love of my life stood by my side. Hurting for me and trying to take some of my pain away. He tried to make it easier on me. The family got together on thanksgiving and had a wonderful day. In the back of my head I was still in mourning for the loss of someone who made an impact on my life.
